The second picker did not take the Torch box, the Leaf box, or the X stone. So the second turn cannot be Torch or Leaf, and the second stone is not X.
Harper’s turn came directly before the Leaf box was chosen. That means Harper’s turn is immediately followed by the Leaf selection.
The stone marked D was taken third. So whoever picked third received D.
Kaito did not pick first or last. So Kaito must be somewhere in the middle.
The Shell box held the stone marked A. So whoever takes Shell gets A.
Marie chose after Cassidy, but not immediately after. Therefore Marie is later than Cassidy with at least one person between them.
The stone marked X was not in the Drum box. So Drum’s stone is not X.
The Spear box was chosen third and the Drum box followed immediately after. This fixes Spear at third and Drum at fourth. Since the third stone is D, the Spear pick at third is the stone D, and the fourth pick is Drum with a stone that is not X.
Omar’s stone was a letter that comes earlier in the alphabet than Cassidy’s. So Omar’s letter must be alphabetically before Cassidy’s letter.
The contestant who chose last ended up with the X. So the fifth turn is the X stone.
The Torch box was not picked by Harper or Omar. Therefore neither Harper nor Omar has Torch.
The stone marked B was not chosen by the contestant who went first. So the first stone is not B.
Now place the fixed sequence pieces. Spear is third with D, Drum is fourth, and Leaf must be the box immediately after Harper’s turn. Since Drum already occupies the fourth turn, Leaf cannot be second or fourth. If Leaf were second, that would violate the rule about the second picker not taking Leaf. Leaf cannot be fourth because that is Drum. The only way to place Leaf directly after someone’s turn without contradicting these placements is to place Leaf in the fifth position, which forces Harper to be fourth. That fits perfectly with Drum at fourth: Harper is fourth on Drum, and Leaf is fifth.
Since the fifth turn is the X stone, the Leaf box holds X, which automatically satisfies the rule that X is not in Drum.
The second turn cannot be Torch or Leaf and cannot be X; with Leaf at fifth and Drum at fourth, the available boxes for turn two are Shell or Spear. Spear is already fixed at third, so turn two must be Shell. Because Shell holds A, the second picker’s stone is A.
The remaining unassigned box for the first turn is Torch. Torch cannot be Harper or Omar, and Kaito cannot be first, so the first turn must be Cassidy on Torch. The first stone cannot be B, so Cassidy’s stone at the first turn must be C.
Marie must choose after Cassidy but not immediately after, so with Cassidy at first she cannot be second. The only remaining positions for Marie are third or fifth. Fifth is already Leaf with X, and third is Spear with D. We will resolve shortly once we place the remaining contestants.
Omar’s stone must be earlier in the alphabet than Cassidy’s. Cassidy has C. The only earlier letters available are A or B. A is already assigned to the second turn with Shell. B is still unassigned. But Omar cannot be first on Torch and cannot be fourth on Drum because Harper is fourth. Also, Omar cannot be on Torch at all. The clean way to satisfy Omar earlier than Cassidy’s C is to put Omar at the second turn on Shell with A. That gives Omar the letter A, which is alphabetically earlier than C, and respects the Torch restriction.
Now fill the remaining turns. Third is Spear with D and fourth is Drum with Harper, leaving fifth as Leaf with X. Kaito cannot be first or last, and first is Cassidy while last is fifth, so Kaito must be third. That puts Kaito on Spear with the stone D. The only remaining slot is the fifth, which belongs to Marie. That gives Marie the Leaf box and the stone X, matching the rule that the last picker took X.
Finally, the only stone left for Harper at the Drum pick is B, which is allowed because the first turn was explicitly not B.
All clues are satisfied: the adjacency of Harper before Leaf, the fixed Spear third and Drum fourth, the Shell having A at second, the last pick holding X in the Leaf box, Torch not taken by Harper or Omar, Kaito not first or last, and Omar’s letter earlier than Cassidy’s.
Answers
Cassidy picked first, chose the Torch box, and received the stone C.
Omar picked second, chose the Shell box, and received the stone A.
Kaito picked third, chose the Spear box, and received the stone D.
Harper picked fourth, chose the Drum box, and received the stone B.
Marie picked fifth, chose the Leaf box, and received the stone X.
Marie is eliminated.
