Puzzle 46: Survivle Serenity - The Spa of Still Waters
Puzzle Walkthrough

The puzzle begins by telling us that the contestant who started at nine o’clock drank herbal tea and did not receive a facial. This immediately locks the earliest time to herbal tea and eliminates the facial from that position. We also learn that Finn began exactly thirty minutes after the contestant who experienced the jasmine aroma. That means the jasmine session directly preceded Finn’s start time. The massage used eucalyptus, and the person who received it did not feel relaxed afterward, so the massage’s resulting feeling must be something other than relaxed. The hot spring soak began earlier than the facial, and whoever took the soak did not drink coconut water, so the soak must come before the facial and can be ruled out as coconut water’s drink.
The ten-thirty appointment left feeling rejuvenated, so that time is locked to that feeling. The mud bath took place immediately before the contestant who enjoyed coconut water, meaning those two sessions are consecutive in start time. Mina used the rose aroma, and her treatment began after Jane’s, which gives us a clear order between them. The person who felt refreshed did not begin before ten o’clock, so that feeling must appear at ten o’clock or later. The sandalwood aroma was not used with ginger tonic and did not begin before nine-thirty, which limits sandalwood to the later part of the morning. The herbal wrap and massage were not consecutive in start times, so at least one time separates them. The sleepy contestant did not have the jasmine aroma and started after Finn, which puts that person somewhere later in the sequence.
Suri’s treatment began earlier than Harper’s, and Harper did not feel energized afterward. The contestant who had the facial felt relaxed, but it was not Mina, so the facial belongs to someone else with that feeling. The lavender aroma was used immediately before the rose aroma, meaning the lavender session took place one time slot earlier than Mina’s since Mina is associated with rose. The ginger tonic drink left the contestant feeling refreshed, and that session was neither the facial nor the mud bath. Finally, the nine-thirty appointment drank a fruit smoothie and did not involve sandalwood.
By connecting these timing and adjacency clues, the schedule begins to take shape. The lavender aroma comes right before the rose aroma, and since Mina has rose, she must be placed after the lavender session. Jasmine comes before Finn, so Finn’s start time is one step later than the jasmine aroma. Mud bath occurs immediately before coconut water, and the hot spring soak must occur before the facial. The drinks also help fix order: herbal tea is locked to nine o’clock, fruit smoothie to nine-thirty, and coconut water must appear later because it follows the mud bath. Ginger tonic, which produces the refreshed feeling, cannot appear before ten o’clock and cannot pair with the facial or mud bath.
Combining these with the contestant relationships, Mina must be later than Jane, and Suri must be earlier than Harper. Since Finn follows the jasmine session by thirty minutes, Finn must start at nine-thirty if Jasmine occurs at nine o’clock. Assigning Jane to nine o’clock fits this perfectly and also aligns with the earlier-than-everyone clues. With Jane at nine o’clock enjoying the jasmine aroma, Finn naturally begins at nine-thirty and fulfills the consecutive timing rule. Because lavender must come immediately before rose, Finn’s session at nine-thirty must use lavender, placing Mina’s rose session immediately after him at ten o’clock. This also satisfies that Mina’s session began after Jane’s.
At ten-thirty, the puzzle tells us the feeling was rejuvenated, and since the mud bath and coconut water pair occur consecutively, we can place the mud bath at ten-thirty and the coconut water treatment at eleven. This makes ten-thirty rejuvenated, matching the given clue exactly. The hot spring soak needs to occur before the facial and cannot involve coconut water, so giving Jane the hot spring soak at nine o’clock works cleanly, since that time already excludes the facial and coconut water. The facial must then belong to Finn at nine-thirty, matching the relaxed feeling while still separating the massage from relaxation. Mina at ten o’clock receives the herbal wrap, which keeps her away from the consecutive restriction with massage because the massage is placed later.
Sandalwood cannot be earlier than nine-thirty and cannot accompany ginger tonic, so assigning it to Suri’s ten-thirty mud bath makes sense. The ginger tonic that creates the refreshed feeling can then go to Mina at ten o’clock, since her treatment is neither facial nor mud bath. The nine-thirty drink is a fruit smoothie, already locked, so Finn’s beverage fits that. The remaining eleven o’clock slot must then be Harper with the massage using eucalyptus and coconut water, as the mud bath at ten-thirty is immediately before it.
Now we check all relationships. The hot spring soak occurs before the facial. The mud bath happens immediately before coconut water. Lavender comes right before rose, with Finn preceding Mina. Ginger tonic gives the refreshed feeling at ten o’clock, not tied to the facial or mud bath. Sandalwood begins at ten-thirty, later than nine-thirty, and avoids ginger tonic. Sleepy occurs after Finn, so Harper fits that feeling, and Harper’s aroma is eucalyptus, not jasmine. Suri begins earlier than Harper, and Harper does not feel energized. Every clue is satisfied, and no contradictions remain, creating a single consistent solution.
